TRAVEL

London has always had a special place in my heart and I enjoyed my years of living in one of the world's most exciting cities during the sixties, and it remains one of my main centres of research. I still visit as often as my schedule allows for pleasure also, to sight-see, attend the theatre and shows and renew old memories. During one early period of my career I was commissioned by a publisher of Travel and Guide books to contribute to their various series of books and found the task very enjoyable. It gave me the opportunity to see the inside of places as diverse as the Tower of London, Fishmongers Hall and Buckingham Palace. Nowadays my research takes me all over the world, from Tokyo to Valetta, from Marakesh to Los Angeles, from Washington D.C. to Zurich, but I still look forward to seeing the Thames again on my return.

Other books took me down many quaint byways and into forgotten corners of the Realm to record what was, even then, aspects of English Life that were fast fading away and being forgotten. It was an interesting period of my life and one wonders what one would find if one undertook the same journeys today!
