RAF SQUADRON BADGES.

When the Royal Air Force came into being towards the end of the First World War, the new service followed the ancient naval and army practice of awarding distinctive badges to their squadrons which reflected the deeds, origins, locations or aircraft with which the unit was equipped. In the intervening ninety years these badges have already acquired a history of their own.
