Per Mare, Per Terram- A History of the Royal Marines

H/B 1974 (ISBN 0 85944 017 6)

Foreword by The Earl Mountbatten of Burma, Life Colonel Commandant, Royal Marines

The history. When published this was the most lavish military history of any unit ever printed. A unique and lovingly compiled account of more than three hundred years of fighting history and tradition by Britain's Sea Soldiers, the Royal Marines.

The book contains detailed accounts of all the campaigns up to that date and the text is illuminated by a series of especially taken and stunning colour photographs of artefacts and flags, reproductions of paintings and cartoons, all of which results in a glorious tribute to the UK's premier fighting force. There is a moving Introduction by Lord Louis Mountbatten, the then Life Commandant, who knew and admired the Corps so well, in which he pays tribute to the Authors work.

In this he was joined by The Society for Army Historical Research Journal, who stated unequivocally that this book: "Must rate as one of the best produced Corps or Regimental Histories of recent times."
