General Aviation
My research has taken me into other areas of Military Aviation History than dive bombers and dive bombing. I have never wished to read, and certainly never wanted to research, the 1,000th book on the Spitfire! I prefer selecting rather more challenging and certainly more neglected subjects into which to probe and explore. My interest in naval history led naturally to the neglected story of torpedo bombers and other aspects of anti-shipping aviation, and I have also been deeply interested in the highly controversial subject of Close Air Support on the battlefield, arguments about which are as old as military aviation itself. Less spectacular, but deeply rewarding subjects have also been the grand little North American trainer family and the much-loved and widely-used Lockheed Hercules transport aircraft, both very worthy of merit.
